India Vs Pak Semifinal 2011

World Cup fever is going on and I am amongst those who are suffering HIGH from this fever or shall i say I am not able to recover at all.

Before the match I was waiting for it endlessly, my patience was tested high time, it was do or die time for us. Funny? Yeah our men in blue are dying to win a match again men in green ..no not because this match will lead them to finals but because it is again our neighbour Pakistan who was once a part of India..2 Brothers want to kill each other now. And inspite of me an educated one like my friends and colleagues still want Indian team to die but not loose against Pakistan. I don't let my husband support Pakistan even when Pak is playing against any other team than India.

Finally dreams of Indians came true on wednesday when people celebrated Diwali ..and i was so excited to know this.. Now I am shameful. When will i grow up? Cricket is just a sport and men in green are just any other sportsman. I watched one interview of Afridi and asked myself when will i be mature like him.

People along Punjab border look for opportunities to meet their brothers and relatives across the border, our own Sania Mirza was youth Icon and when she married a pakistani cricketer we started hating her? It was a prime time gossip on TV? Every house in Pak listens to Indian songs, comes to India when they are severly ill, watch hindi movies and loves Shahrukh and I love Atif aslam for his voice. I wish our next generation is not like me, they are more mature. I wish I can teach my kids to love Indians and our neighbours.

This is what a true Pakistani said to Afridi when they lost the match
"And Shahid Afridi addressed the nation in a way our president never has – unselfish, genuine, modest. So when Afridi apologized to Pakistan, millions listened and were humbled by the gesture. Our eyes filled with tears and our hearts with love and strange kind of sorrow. Shahid Afridi, you need not apologize to the nation. We are proud of you and our entire cricket team!
To those Pakistanis who thought this was a match between Hindus and Muslims, I’m glad India won. This was never a battle between nations, or a jehad against Hindus. It was a semi-final cricket match, and if a loss is what it took to be reminded of this then I’m glad we lost. Victory would have only made you gloat over something you had wrong all along anyway."

Wish we Indians can also take a defeat in the same spirit instead of blaming our Captain or God or other lovely team members who are playing for their country and we are sitting on our couches, looking for a reason to celebrate, party and believe me if we loose we will post bad comments on websites, social networking sites and next day get up and go to work and won't even remember about cricket. Indian media and people will kill our captain and there won't be a single person who will write to MSD that "Dhoni no matter we lost the match but we still admire your captaincy" . WE NEED TO GROW UP!!

It looks like a dream that the person who hated pakistan for 30yrs have started to admire them for their patriotism and respect for each other. I won't write big words but atleast will treat cricket as cricket and not a WAR .
